Casting Techniques
Tip: When fishing the two handed overhead cast is really inaccurate but it gets the most distance, use this cast when bass are actively feeding, when they are flushing and chasing forage species in open, deep water. -- [For this cast go with a longer handle] But when bass are relating to shallow cover and quite accurate precision is needed go with the pitch and flip casts. Although flipping allows you to cover shallow nearby targets more quickly than pitching, itâ??s limited to off-color water. When going for clear water in heavy cover go with the pitching technique. Also skip and roll casts re useful under cover like trees. Use a shorter rod (6 to 61/2 feet) with shorter handles b/c they are more maneuverable. That is why when going fishing it is good to bring different assortments of rods so that you can switch tactics when ever you switch to different places.

Safety Pins
Tip: Safety pins are very verstile. Use the point to untangle knots or backlashes; or poke out the paint from the eyes of new jigs. Fasten the pins to your vest or tackle box so they'll be there if you need 'em

A Must Try!
Tip: When fishing a small pond or urban lake tie a 4-inch GULP worm and throw it weightless! When it first hits the water let it sink then every now and then give it a slow twich and let it fall! If it works in Arizona Summers it will work anywhere! Pay a lot of attention to the line and feel!

Easy Stink Bait
Tip: Cut some 4 inch square pieces of some old nylon stockings. In each square place a hook with leader then add a generous amount of chicken liver, a piece of strong cheese, and finally a small piece of soap that has been softened in water for a hour or so. Bring the corners of stocking up and tie off leaving the leader to hang out. Place these stink bags into the blood from the livers hang the leaders over the side put lid back on liver container. Then leave in sun for at least 4 hrs or preferably till the lid blows off from the gas buildup. They are nasty but they work. And you dont have to touch anything but the leader.

Lipless Rattletrap Crankbait
Tip: Try fishing a lipless rattletrap crankbait with a stop and go action. I've had great success using this method. I'll cast near cover, let the lure sink for a few seconds, then retrieve 5-10 feet and stop, then repeat. Hope it works for you.

Washing Yor Lures
Tip: If you need to wash any of your lures use clean water because if you use some dishwasher detergent to clean them it will leave a scent on the lure and make the bass not intrested.

Carolina Rig Tips
Tip: Try this for your Carolina rigs next time you fish one... When you place your weights and beads above the swivel, use a small dab of super glue on your knot. This does 2 things. 1. It keeps your line tied to the swivel. 2. It keeps the beads from breaking your line. Try this next time, and see if it works for you like it does for me...

Angry Daddies
Tip: In post spawn season many anglers have trouble bringing out largemouth, but a 6 inch salamander usually does the trick. In the wild, salamanders eat bass eggs, so if you throw a salamander into a nesting area you should get large hits and bring out more fish due to the males reaction to the predator

Slowing It Way Down!
Tip: I run a buzzbait pretty often and I seem to get a lot a bites at least. I usually reel it steady at first and if nothing happens I use a stop and go method and let it sink just a few inches and then reel again. KEEP FISHING

Lure And Time Saver
Tip: Keep some sponges and scissors in the boat so when you hang a lure up, you can cut the line, tie on a piece of sponge throw it in the water and get another lure. Then when you are through working the area just go back get the sponge and retrieve the lure. This is especially helpful when working an area and the fish are easily spooked.
