Winter Fishing
Tip: When fishing in the winter and the fish aren't bitting then you should pull out a flipping crawfish jig (black works good.) That should be able to help you catch one.

Bass
Tip: All you need to do is cast out a 15' Booyah Dancin Buzz. A normal straight retrieve will land huge bass. This works especially well when the bass aren't coming up for surface lures.

Backlashing
Tip: Just about everybody that fishes with a open faced reel occasionally backlashes. My dad told me a way to avoid a complete replacement of line if you have a bad backlash. Cast your line out as far as you normally cast than pull out a extra 15-20 yards of line. Than take a small peice of tape and stick it accross the remaining line on the reel. This works great because the line left under the tape will never backlash and the line that you cast for some reason does not seem to backlash near as bad. This works for me and I hope it does for you.

Organization
Tip: I know a guy who chews snuff. I have him save all his empty cans for me. I clean them out real well. I keep all kinds of small beads, hooks, sinkers, grubs, whatever. I take a Sharpie marker and write on the top of the can, the bottom of the can, and across the side. so that I can tell what is in it. They are much easier to stack and store in a tackle box than a bunch of bags. They are airtight when you close them. And if you want to store grubs or trailers or anything in a little dab of scent, you don't have it going all over the place.

Rubber Worm Fishing
Tip: If you rig your rubber or plastic worms Texas or Carolina you will like this tip. After you pull your worm up over the eye of the hook take a wooden toothpick and stick it through the worm and the eye of the hook. Then clip the toothpick of with clippers as close as you can to the worm. No more slipping up and down the hook. Plus you will always have toothpicks to chew on while you fish!

Dirty Water
Tip: The suspended particles in stained, cloudy, and muddy water causes the water to absorb sunlight and warm faster than clear water. This can be a good thing to remember during the spawning period

Stained Water
Tip: Stained, cloudy, and muddy water causes bass to stay shallow and very close to cover.

Murky/Muddy Water
Tip: A good rule to remember is that the dirtier the water, the shallower the bass will be. Conversely, the clearer the water, the deeper the bass will stay.

Crank Baits
Tip: Crank plugs are usually much more effective when they are presented right on the bottom. This is a major reason why proper lure selection is so important. When fishing submerged grass beds, treat the top of the grass as though it were a ‘bottom’ location and try to keep your lure is in contact with the top of the grass. When fishing a rocky or stumpy bottom, select a lure that will intermittently contact that bottom.

Drag
Tip: When using light lines and small hooks, it's very important to use a quality reel with a smooth drag system to protect against sudden surges by the fighting fish.
