Anchoring Your Boat
Tip: When anchoring or tying off your boat to fish a spot take a bungee cord that will wrap around a tree or stump and slip the ends on the crank circle. This is a lot easier and faster than messing with ropes and anchors.

Stop! Don't Jump
Tip: When you're playing a fish its fun to see them jump, but its a good way to lose them. when you see or feel the fish heading for the top all you do is point your rod down toward the bottom, even into the water if you have to. you can guide them with the rod pressure. just apply smooth steady pressure the way you want them to go. the big ones are pretty stubburn but try it, it works. you will end up landing alot more fish. nothing makes you sicker then losing a big one, especially when you're in a tournament.

Short Hitting Yellow Perch
Tip: Perch tend to be quick nippers rather than hard grabbers, meaning they strike short and miss the hook. Try using a smaller jig or one with s shorter tail. Changing to a low stretch braided line with a clear leader can help, too, by allowing a faster hookset than is possible with light monofilament, which stretches.

Clean Up After Ice Out
Tip: There is a burst of good fishing on northern lakes about 3 weeks after ice-out, when the water at the surface reaches 39 degrees. At that temperature, water reaches its greatest density and sinks to the bottom. This turn-over of oxygen laden surface water has a homogenizing effect throughout the water column, and fish at all levels are activated by the extra oxygen available.

Cheap Noise
Tip: Instead of buying expensive fishing beads, go to any craft dept. or store, and buy in glass beads in bulk, in a variety of colors. I just bought 200 beads for $2.25. in assorted colors.

Tip: When carolina riggin' with braid, use a fluorocarbon leader to reduce the visibility. Very critical in clear water.

Awesome Tubes
Tip: If you are texas rigging a tube bait, tie a knot bellow the bullet weight about 7-10 inches above the tube. It gives a better action.

Tube
Tip: In Summer When the water is warm and fish are deep, jig a tube off of the bottom. Every 10-15 seconds try to make contact with the bottom. This won't bring in Big MAMA but it will get a lotta fish.

Cold Water Drop Shotting
Tip: I have found it very affective to drop shot in cold water condition this past winter. I usually use some kind of YUM or zoom lizard or anything with arms and legs that move really. I put a 1/0 or 2/0 size hook depending on the size of fish. It seems to work better if you mix up the boouncing off the bottom. I sometimes bounce it fast but really low on the bottom and i also take it way up about 2' away from the top(depending on the depth). Hope this helps.
