Two- Piece Fishing Rod
Tip:
This is a tip for those of us, that use two-piece fishing rods. When assembling the two piece rods, it is helpful to apply a coat of paraffin to the tip of the butt to lubricate the taper. It will help you seat the tip section more firmly. Don't be afraid to put the tip on too firmly, it can be removed with a twisting action.

Wave Worms
Tip:
When using a wave worm I like to cast out my line and let my wave worm sink to the bottom. After it hits the bottom I reel in the slack and lift my rod tip up and let the worm sink slowly back down. Sooner of later you will get a bite, and when you do, it will be a big one.

Drop Shooting
Tip:
This is a good presentation for bass when they are spawning. Using a small 4" Robo Worm is good because the fish can suck the whole thing up. If your bait is to big they'll just bite the tail.

Save Money On Refilling Line On Your Bait Casting Reel
Tip:
When changing line on your bait casting reel you do not have to empty the entire reel spool. I normally pull off about 30 to 40 yards extra where I know I will not be able to cast beyond. I use the double uni knot when connecting the two lines together, you can find this knot drawing under the articles column (Knots) on this site, it works great for me. I have been using it for about 10 plus years, never failed me yet. Also, when buying braided line, get the 150 yard spool and split it into two spools of 75 yards. Now you have enough to refill two reels. Even using a 1 oz. weight you will not cast out 75 yards, this is big savings on line for me.

Getting The Boat Ready
Tip:
Before I launch a boat I always check certain things:
Make sure that I have life jackets and other safety items on board.
Make sure my batteries are charged up.
Make sure the lights on the boat and trailer work.
Make sure the oars and a tow line are in the boat.
Make sure the anchors are on board.
Make sure I have plenty of fuel.
Make sure I have tools to work on the motor if I have to, plus extra spark plugs and cotter pins.
The one thing I never want to forget to check is to make sure drain plug is in.
Happy boating and good luck fishing!

Soft Bait Toss
Tip:
The trick I like to use when bass fishing when there is brush near by, is to try and throw my lizard or my worm into the bush so that it looks like the worm fell out of it. It is important that you hook your worms and lizards weedless for this method because if not you will catch alot of bushes. I like to throw into the object and lightly jerk it out so that it splashes into the water. This is very affective in clear and warmer water.

Grasshoppers For Bluegill And Sunfish
Tip:
A good bait for bluegill, is live grasshoppers. Use a small hook using a split shot weight. Take a grasshopper and bring your hook up through his belly. Cast out and start catching the bluegill and sun fish. It's a kick they love the grasshoppers.

Boat Tip
Tip:
I know many of us out there fising don't have big nice boats and simply use jon boats and carry them to the lakes or ponds and put them in. And here where I live as with many others have rough terrain to carry the boat and sometimes over a pretty long walk. A friend of mine came up with the idea of making a dolly for his boat. He has a 12 foot jon boat and uses the dolly to transport it. It was really simple to make by having someone weld a cradle for the boat and used two old bicycle wheels. Now he always uses this dolly and saves considerable time and work. It is really simple for you to make and can be done with different designs but it can really help you out, especially if you have a bigger jon boat. And less time and work transporting the boat means more time and energy to fish.

Texalina Rig
Tip:
Use 2 bullet sinkers each being 1/2 the total weight you want (2 1/8 oz = 1/4 oz, etc.), put the first one on regular, put a glass bead below it and put the other weight backwards (it should look something like this
), tie on the hook and there you go. This adds a little more rattle and something a little different than what the fish are used to seeing.
