Keeping Your Battery Charged
Tip: My wife and I found that when we go camping and fishing for a few days and take the boat, that it is a very good thing to carry along our battery charger. We always get a campsite with electricity and water. We take our battery charger and a couple of slabs of wood with us. When we've been out fishing all day or all night, we take the main battery, the battery for the trolling motor out of the boat, set them on the slabs of wood. We attach the charger to one till it's charged then charge the other. There is nothing worse if you want to take your boat on the water and the batteries are dead.

Better Tubes = Bigger Fish
Tip: I highly recommend putting half an alka-seltzer in the inside of a tube next time you go fishing. Not only are they cheap but they get the job done. The fizzing from the seltzer draws a lot of attention, even from those finicky females that are spawning!

Travel And Fish Light
Tip: I don't know about y'all but I get tired of lugging a big cumbersome tacklebox around with me when I fish. I know it's nice to have all that stuff with you but do you really need it? I lug this tackle box around with me, panting getting my arm sore from carrying it. My wife, has the right idea. She bought her one of these clear plastic containers, that has all these differnet sections in it. It is about as large as a big book, thick as a medium size book. They come in all sizes. She puts all her hooks, sinkers, lures, leaders, pliers, sissors and stringer in it. She never runs short off things to fish with. She doesn't pant carrying it. Her arm doesn't hurt carrying it. Now tell me who is the smarter of us two. I learned from her. Try it, y'all will like it.

Running A Weedless Lure Over Moss To Make The Fish Mad.
Tip: If the fish have been hitting real lightly something you can do to really get them to hit hard is run a weedless lure across the moss really fast making a lot of noise. This will upset the fish and, if they really want it, they will get it on the run. If they don't hit after a couple of passes, run it across again really slow and that should get them. It has worked for me many times.

Getting The Best Action Out Of Your Tubes
Tip: The next time you are fishing with a tube, try cutting from the tail end of your tube up to the bottom of the hook. This extra bit of freedom allows the action of your tube to flare out more. I have personally had much better days with my tube with this technique.

Tough Fishing With Spawning Bass
Tip: This last week, I have caught more 3+ pounders than ever before at my lake. It is spawning time and using a Jig (Roll'r Jigs work best ) with a pork or grub, is killing these bass. With an action I call 5 & 2: reel for 5 seconds and let it sink for 2 ( only 2 because there up shallow.) Good Luck!!!

Fishing The Jitterbug
Tip: All of you bass fisherman know what the Jitterbug is.... and if you don't, I'm going to tell you. The jitterbug is a topwater bait which has proved to be one of the best top water baits to be used in the spring and fall. The tip i am going to give to you anglers out there is the Jitterbug is most effectively used when the sun isn't shining on the water. This is because the bass aren't able to see whats on top of the water near as well when the sun is shining on the water. Good luck to all who fish the Jitterbug.

Using A Baitcasting Reel
Tip: To help improve your casting on a baitcasting reel, adjust the brake to the weight of your lure or rig that you are casting. The brake is usually located on the side under the handle, it's a round knob. With the rod, reel, line and lure assembled, hold your rod tip up at a 45 degree angle and depress the free spool button. The lure should smoothly & slowly drop to the ground without any spool overrun. If the lure falls too fast or barely falls at all adjust the brake knob to the speed you want. This not only makes for better casting, but it also cuts way down on backlashes. You also want to keep your reel filled with line, until the line is 1/16 inch from the edge of the spool, it will help the line come off smoother, improving your casting distances.

Drain Plug - What Drain Plug ???
Tip: I don't care who you are - if you HAVEN'T forgotten the drain plug - you will - UNLESS you wrap your cutoff lanyard around the steering wheel and attach the plug to the clip. You can't miss it and you need to hook up your cutoff lanyard to your life-jacket anyhow. This also prevents you from forgetting your cutoff lanyard. Be safe out there.

Weedless Topwater Lures
Tip: Many anglers use the weedless topwater lures on top of mossy and grassy areas and on lily pads. This is an excellent way to get a big fish. After a couple hits on them they are often no longer water proof and they will no longer stay on top of the water but sink as your reel it in. Try using some glue or caulking to seal the leaks up. Just a dab will patch the hole and it will be back on the surface in no time.
