Fishing Report: Marine Corps Air Station, South Carolina (06/03/05)
Posted By: dustypack1
Trip Date: June 3, 2005
Location Information:
Spot: Marine Corps Air Station
Country: United States of America
State: South Carolina
Number of Anglers: 1
Water Clarity: Mostly Murky
Weather Conditions: Rain
Number of Fish Caught: 3
Water Temp: 65
Air Temp: 85

Tackle Used:
Quantum Med-Hvy rod w/ Quantum reel and 10lb mono. Texas Rig- Culprit Red Shad w/ black back and 8oz. bullet weight tied with Improved Cinch knot to 2.0 offset shank hook.

Report:
This early morning was rainy and humid. I found that the predator birds and baitfish were active. This gave me hope that fishing would be good. The pond was a tear-drop shape with a depth of 8'-10' max. Due to the murky water, I used a Texas rigged Culprit Red Shad 7.5" worm with a black back. Because I was bank-fishing, I positioned myself to fish from bank to deep water. I figured this would simulate the run-off of bait from the steep wet bank. I caught 3 bucketmouths within an hour and missed 1 other. Two were 2lbs and 1 was 7lbs!!! The one I missed surfaced and looked to be about 3 1/2 - 4lbs. I consider this a good day with the short time I had and the pressure that this pond receives.
