Report:
81 mile lake is on the Richardson Hwy 81 miles from Fairbanks - real easy to get to. I was on my way out of town so this was strictly a catch and release day - some how the fish knew this and would not leave my lures alone. I even found a nice Panther Martin lure and caught on it. Most of the rainbow were marginal keepers but I did land a hog or two. I landed one little guy and he didn't unhook well. He just kind of sat there panting in the shallows trying to get his bearing. when along swooped a mew gull. The gull grabbed him and swallowed him whole in mid flight (that's why I listed two anglers - me plus the gull) We both had a good time - got to Fairbanks and had no luck hunting grayling in the Chena but I did get a tip on a hot PIKE spot.
