Hello everybody again,
Fishing was great this week with all the overcast skies the Bass were tearing it up. Three great gentlemen, Billy & Phillip Horton along with Jimmy Coffer out of Winnsboro, Texas went out with me this week and started out with big topwater poppers in shad and chartruse patterns. Some good Bass were caught but Billy Horton had put on a senko type bait in watermelon and started tearing those big Bass up.
Altogher they must have got into about 70 Bass and put 43 in the boat up to about 6lbs. I know that sounds hard to believe but I told Billy Horton as we took a picture of His 6lber. That many people would not believe the day I would write about.
That 6 lber. was a story all in himself. Jimmy Coffer was popping along with his topwater on a point I had caught some Big Bass on the week before and a Big Bass came up and blew at his topwater but missed it. I learned from fishing tournaments if you ever get a blow from a big Bass on a topwater or spinnerbait and she misses it always have another rod ready with a tube or senko or worm ready to go.
I hollered at Billy with that senko on his pole to cast there quick into the boil as the Big Bass calmed down and about 3 foot from the boat she hit man people were running all over that boat as Billy fought that Big Bass . I put her in the net and we took our pictures and released her back into the Lake.
What a sight that was. My heart still beats like crazy when I see or fight a Big Bass. We stayed with watermelon senko type baits for thew rest of the day and the clouds held till we finished. All the heavy rains did not mud up the coves like expected just stained them a little.
The Bass were holding on the edge of the creek channels in about 3-8 feet of water.
You know we go through many tribulations in this life but if you put your trust in Jesus He will bring you through and work it out somehow in His great love for you.
