Report:
I was up by 4:30 and on the road by 10 to 5. I picked my buddy up along the way and we were on the water by 6:10. He decided to fish a 6" suspending Rapala shad, so I tied it on for him. He walked to the first spot south of the buoy line, cast it out, and walked back with a 1-1.5lb largemouth! He managed to hook one treble in the lip, one in the eye, and one in the back close to the dorsal fin. I got them all off relatively easily and we released it. Such luck my buddy has! After about 20-30 minutes, I actually caught THE SAME FISH my buddy had caught earlier. There was no mistaking it either, the wounds were there to prove it. This time he took an Ika. I figure he's guarding a bed, because the fish didn't seem all that hungry. I missed a few pickups because the were so light... The fish just seemed to pickup the bait and sit with it... I would feel them on there, but when I tried to set the hook, out the bait came... I missed 4 fish, one of them felt pretty nice too...

It was probably 10-10:15 when I had made my way to fishing RoboWorm Sculpins. I tied a 3/0 hook on with a BB sized split shot about 10 inches up from that. On my 3rd or 4th cast out, something picked it up and ran with it. I was fishing with a lot of slack so she had time, but after about 5 seconds I reeled the little slack left up and set the hook hard. Good thing too. She came to the surface and got half her body out of the water. When I saw that big open mouth I knew this was a big fish. She fought hard, but I worked her in. As she got about 7-10 feet out she made a bee-line for some bushes near the shore. She got back in there and was putting up quite a fight. I had to give her a little slack so she's swim out of the branches a bit, and then I hauled her in really fast to get out of 'em. She was chuck full of eggs, and weighed about 5.5lbs, maybe more... My scale stinks. My buddy snapped off a few pictures, but I've got to get the film developed. I released her, and then proceeded to let out a few "woots!" That's a record for me from the shore.

Happy Fishin'!
