Posted By: wes03
Trip Date: May 6, 2005
Location Information:
Spot: AEP Ponds
Country: United States of America
State: Ohio
Number of Anglers: 3
Water Clarity: Clear
Weather Conditions: Sunny
Number of Fish Caught: 13
Water Temp: 58
Air Temp: 66

Tackle Used:
Axiom baitcaster with 12 pound green lo-vision stren line on my 6'6" shakespear excursion rod.
Rhino reel with 12 pound line on a 6'0" ugly stick.
Bait used was white weedless mouse and a rapala shallow runner with a baby bass body.

Report:
With the sun beaming down I figured the fish wouldn't be active because where we fished there was no real shade. As soon as we got to the pond I threw out the white weedless mouse that has been working for me the lst couple of cloudy days. I was surprised that they were hitting, but the hits were weak and they wouldn't even suck the lure into their mouth for me to set the hook. My brother was using a rapala shallow runner with a baby bass body. We were there no more than five to ten minutes and he had already reeled in three fish. He continued to catch them all day racking up 12 fish on the day. So I decided to switch to my shallow runner and caught three fish late in the day. The method we used that seemed to work was running the rapala very slow next to the moss that was surrounding the edge and the fish would come out and suck it right up.
