Report:
Well the wind stayed with us. And so did the clouds, but the rain was gone for the day it seemed. Last year at Spikes lake we dragged the boat all the way back to the lake and then had to fight it to get it back to the truck. This year, Alan designed and built a fantastic little cart. We pulled that thing through the field and up the dam like it was nothing this year. We decided to make a run along the dam, even though the wind would continually fight us. Spikes lake is spinnerbait heaven, and we always do well there, so I handed Alan a new Leverage Spinner in Naked Shad, and I tied on a Georgia Peach color. I had a hit almost immediately, but failed to connect. Alan tossed back into the spot and nailed a nice 3lber. A great way to start off the day. The bite continued to be slow as we expected, picking up fish here and there. Every one over the 14" minimum for Indiana, so it was nice. Lots of submerged stumps and standing timber, where we would stab a few. I picked up a real nice crappie that hit a 1/4 oz. chartreuse hologram Leverage Spinner I was throwing beside stumps. In total. I got 9 largemouth and the crappie. Alan had nailed 6 largemouth and he picked up a crappie too.
