Report:
We kicked off Turkey Season with a trip to the strip pits in Warrick Co. Lot's of trucks parked around with turkey hunters hitting the woods. We met about 2p to find a steady cold rain. Water was clear as gin. There were 4-5 nice bass roaming the boat ramp. I tossed a lizard near them while Alan put new line on his pole. Nothing like being prepared. They would not hit however. The bite started off slow. I caught a couple 13" 1lb largemouths on Sqworm Tubes in the first 30 minutes or so. We just worked the bank from the ramp and then to the north. We came to a spot with a nice point and some big time vegetation, I switched to a Sqworm Stick Green/Purple flake. That is when the bite turned on a little bit. Alan immediately tied on a green stick and we caught fish steadily for a couple of hours. Nothing crazy, and we missed quite a few nips, just steady. I had caught 15 and Alan had 7. Nothing huge, nothing tiny. Right about a lb. It was starting to get dark, so we headed for the ramp. I tied on a Yozuri Popper just to see what was picking at the top as we strolled in. To my surprise I caught 10 more bass in a flurry of action, about 25 minutes. Alan managed 3 more bringing the total to 25 for me. 10 for poor ole' Alan. Great start to Turkey Season however, and Alan would catch up later at his "home" lake I was sure.
