Fishing Report: Private Pond, Ohio (05/01/05)
Posted By: wes03
Trip Date: May 1, 2005
Location Information:
Spot: Private Pond
Country: United States of America
State: Ohio
Number of Anglers: 3
Water Clarity: Slightly Murky
Weather Conditions: Partly Cloudy
Number of Fish Caught: 8
Water Temp: 48
Air Temp: 58

Tackle Used:
Axiom baitcast spooled with 12 pound lo-vision green stren line and a shakespeare 6'6" excursion pole. My bait was white weedless mouse and a rapala shallow runner with baby bass body and finally a F-5 Rapala which was the lure of the day.

Report:
My buddies and I were going out hoping the bass would be closer to the banks now because it was starting to warm up again. I started out with my weedless mouse hoping the bass would hit through the thick cover. About 3 casts in I had one unaggressive hit and it didn't take. I then moved to a Rapala shallow runner with only one fish on, but I lost it. A few casts later I moved to an F-5 Rapala and slowly jerked it across the top and then reeling it in the last 3 feet. This worked like a charm. I caught all 5 of my fish on this lure. My one buddy was running a spinnerbait at all depths and speeds and had no luck. My other buddy caught 3 fish on a rattling crankbait fairly deep. This trip was hot, a real up-tempo day but was well worth all the effort.
