Report:
Nice day for bassin'! I went for an hour and a half during lunch and caught 3 nice bass. A short summer shower preped the pond for me. My first cast produced a 5 pounder! I love it when that happens! A few minutes later, I nailed a frisky 2 pounder. Both of these bass were hanging in cover 3 ft. from the bank. The third bass was a 3 1/2 pounder. He was snatching bait fish that were schooling by the pond's spillway. I started out fishing a Texas rigged Red Shad 7.5 worm. I changed to a pumpkin-seed 7.5 worm with chartreuse tail after a gator swallowed my Red Shad!!! He was posted up in front of my position and submerged on my bait after a couple of minutes. I see him and his buddy every time I go and have never had either one of them be so aggressive. Anyway, I jigged the new setup around the schooling baitfish hoping the bass would see the worm as a meal of opportunity. It worked! The 3 1/2 pounder was as a beauty. Unfortunately, I missed a 4th bass a possible 3 pounder right after the 3 1/2 pounder. I didn't want to go back to work! Oh well, at least it's Friday!!!
