GFPC and I try our hand at Muskie Fishing in the "Deep"
On Friday, we decide this weekend we are going to try Muskie Fishing up at Greenwood Lake. It was supposed to be 3 of us, two novice and one actual fisherman that actually caught some of these big boys. We were to meet at the Diner at 05:30am, and head out to the deepest part of the Lake and bag us a couple of 40 pounders. I asked GFPC if he had heavier Tackle, we couldn't use our Bassin' equipment, the Muskie would run the line right off the Spool. He said he had some heavier equipment so I thought we were set to go. Once on the Lake, we head to a 30 foot drop off and start to break out the weaponry. I didn't pay too much mind to GFPC until he was ready for his first cast. It was then I saw the "Heavy Equipment"! This was the biggest Rod I had ever seen! It must have come in thee pieces it was so huge. It took both arms to cast it, and the sound it made had me thinking we were being circled by a Pterodactyl!! I immediately realized I should have probably brought along a Harpoon. GFPC must have used this Rod before, because after he swung this mighty down-rigger with a grip, the lure flew halfway to the other side of the Lake! Needless to say, GFPC could only cast "Hugo" about 9 times before he decided the Lighter Tackle and Bass fishing was more our style. We didn't catch any Muskie, but he told me he wouldn't be needing to work out on the BowFlex equipment for a couple of days!
