Growing up I spent most of my summers fishing with my grandpa. He was a very respectable man in our town, so he had permission to fish a lot of ponds in our area. There is this one pond that I would consider my favorite. It has a lot of structures and big bass, let me tell ya. We always fished out of a 14ft flat bottom john boat. This one time that we were fishin' (I was about 9) I had just reeled in my lure (a Lucky Baby 13) it was still in the water about 8 or so inches a way from the tip of my pole. WHAM the biggest bass I had ever seen hit my lure. It scared my of course and I didn’t set the hook. It got away.
About two years later we were at the same pond, at the same place, at the same time (around 6 am) and with the same lure. BAM there it was it fought hard for about 15-20 seconds then it stopped but I could tell it was still there. My grandpa thinking it wasn’t that big of a fish wrapped the line around his hand and picked it up WOW I got that fish. But before the fish was over the boat it came off the hook and fell in the water.
Well to make a long story short I have hooked this same fish( I think ) several times and never landed it due to broken line, broken pole, once I stripped the gears in my reel and even pulled the treble hooks out of the lure. I have been actively chasing this fish for about ten years now and one day it will be mine, oh yes it will be mine (that is if it is still alive) Oh by the way when I got a good look at it when I was about 11 I say this fish would have went about 13 pounds (compared to other bass that I have caught)
