Bluegill pulls in pole.
One of my early memories of fishin' was with my mom at my grandpas pond at his new farm. The pond was chuck-full of nice bass, catfish, and bluegills (or brim, as my mom would call them). This pond had a bridge built over it, which was great for bein' able to fish most of the pond without a boat. We were over fishin' it one evenin' and mom was baitin' one of my little brother's hooks so she had set her pole in between the spindles on the bridge. The next thing we seen was her pole gettin' tugged off the bridge into the water. Her Zebco 33 was gone just like that. She was gettin' real mad and was about to take us home when we looked down and there went her pole under the bridge. That bluegill was pullin' it all over the place. We spent the next half hour or so tryin' to catch that pole with our lines and our hands. We ran all the way around the pond chasin' it until my dad pulled up and wondered what we were doin'. Mom told him the story and he couldn't help but laugh. He got out and got his pole out and fished for that pole for about 10 minutes until he finally hooked it and pulled the pole and bluegill both out. The bluegill was only about 6 inches, but he had to be the strongest swimmer in that pond!
