My wife hooked a 250 pounder

It was getting dark we should have gone in.
On our last trip to Lake Fork Texas My Brother in law Larry his wife Gayla and me and my wife loaded the boats for some bass fishing. We caught bass everyday that we where there. The largest bass caught was a 5.6 pounder caught by my wife the day before we left. Little did she know or did I know what she would snag the next day. We went out the last evening that we where there my brother in law Larry was sick at his stomach so he decided to stay at the hotel. My wife and I and my sister in law went ahead and went to the lake to fish for a while. As it was getting dark my sister in law was fishing on the back deck of the boat and my wife and I were on the front deck I felt something grab a hold of my ear and all of the sudden I realized I was hooked and hooked good. We cut the line on the crankbait and snipped the treble hook so I would not have to go in with the crankbait hanging off of my ear. We loaded the boat and headed to the motel. My brother in law was waiting for us we called him on the cell phone on the way back. He had a pair of needle nose pliers and snips. We tried for 30 minutes to remove the hook! We tried to push it on through and cut the barbs but two of the barbs where up in the cartilage of my ear. My ear started swelling so we went into Sulphur Springs Texas to the emergency room. While we where waiting an elderly couple was sitting there visiting with my wife and I. About the time that they left she saw the hook in my ear and I think that she thought I was some kind of pierced freak the way she looked at me when they left. The doctor said that he pulls hooks out every few weeks and that I would have never got mine out by myself. He gave me a shot in the ear and I did not think he was ever going to get it pushed through and clipped but he finally did. My wife was in the room with me she felt terrible but she could not help laughing about the lady thinking I had a treble hook piercing. She said that I would have to throw away my Ranger boat hat because it was soaked with blood. I told her no way . The hat was the biggest proof of the time she hooked something that weighed 250 pounds and besides I might hook her one day so I need something to remind her.
