Master Casting (Add to Favorites) Posted Monday, June 20th, 2005 to Fishing Stories Hard to believe my casting skill (or was it luck)
The one thing a man needs on Butte Creek, Alaska is a good mosquito net. So guess what went flying off my head. My buddy Bill yelled out - you lost your Net! I screamed like a child knowing that I would die from mosquito attack - a slow but certain end. I caught a glimpse of the net floating down stream, spun around and cast - overshot the net by five yard - dang I missed.
Then the rod loaded up and I thought the grayling was not fighting much so a slowly retrieved and was shocked to learn that I had snagged the net. Bill almost fainted when he saw and asked why I took so long to land it. I told him I was just playing it a bit to wear it out.
Got the net back on and managed to survive to fish another day.
