I am 14 but was 13 when it happened. I got up around 5:00am got dressed and ate. I was going to take the boat out but something told me to walk a while. I was using a plastic minnow about 6in and was casting to the docks. I started to walk back to my house and stopped for one more cast. I casted it as far as my Diawa would let me. I started to jerking it on the top of the water. I gave it about a five sec pause and started it again. All I seen was my bait and the bass come completely out of the water. I set the hook and started to bring it in. With 20lb test Spider-Line and my drag set all the way up it kept tailing runs. When I got it close enough to grab it I had a problem, it was a good 8 foot drop. Thank god there was a boat ramp there. I dragged it up the ramp and it tried to swim away but I jumped on it and grabbed it right when the lure came out. It was a 5lb 6oz large mouth bass.
