About our adventure on a airplane with pontoons
In an earlier story, I wrote about a Canada fishing trip. In the story, I wrote about flying into a remote lake. This is, a little bit of our adventure on that trip. I always called them ski planes, this plane had pontoons on it. We stowed our gear, boarded the plane at the boat dock. The plane could pull right up to the dock, for loading and onloading. The pilot was a young fella, working his way thru college as a bush pilot. I am here to tell you, I was a little nervous about the flight. The pilot was kidding around to put us at ease and it helped. Once we were strapped in, he began to to go back and forth across the lake to create waves so he could take off. He explained he had to do that, when there wasn't much wind. As we were flying to the remote lake where we were going to stay and fish, we flew over forests and many many lakes. It was a real pretty site. The pilot explained that the old trappers, used to portage from lake to lake with their furs. That had to really be tough. We finally arrived at our lake, we circled and landed on the water. We taxied on the water, right up to the dock so we could unload to continue on the best fishing trip I have ever been on.
