The big Bass that didn't win the prize
Was fishing in a Big Bass Classic about 12 miles from the weigh in, had to idle about three miles of it because of the stumps an low water, at around 10:30 am, I caught a bucketmouth that weighed in at 6.lbs 14 oz., so we just kept fishing since it was the teams' 5 best fish, but I felt pretty confident about having the big bass. Well at about 1:00 o'clock we start idling out and when we get to the main channel and then my buddies' boat just would not run. Come to find out we had fouled the plugs out during all the idling we had done, so we just putt-putted to the weigh in and got there exactly 5 minutes late! And worst of all my fish had the big bass award won by over 2 pounds, but was not allowed to be weighed.
You talk about being mad, needless to say I pretty much made a you know what out of myself. So from now on I give myself plenty of time to make the weigh in and while I know that rules are rules, I knew everyone involved in the tournament and they know that I'm not the type to cheat at anything. So, if your a tournament fisherman please allow yourself time for mechanical failures, because it sure can cost you.
