Didn't Have a Boat

Fishing below a dam.
When we were kids, we used to fish the Rock River. We used to like to fish bellow the dam. We didn't have a boat, we would walk out on the rocks as far as we could and fish. We would catch carp, catfish, sunfish and suckers. The river, ran pretty swift there and was real rocky. We lost a lot of hooks and sinkers, we would usually catch a stringer full of fish. Sometimes we took them home, sometimes this old man used to come down there and buy a stringer full for $2.00. When we sold them, we would use the money to go to the show. If you were under 12 years of age, it cost 12 cents plus 2 cent tax to get in. We always used night crawlers fishing there, if we fished the river where it was calm we would used dough balls, catfish stink bait and minnows. One summer the river got real low and down below the dam, you could walk across the river on the rocks. There were fish, swimming around like in big puddles it was amazing. I like river fishing but boy you have to use a heavy sinker on your line because of the current.
