One Bass, Several Mishaps

We caught one bass but laughed all day!
Joe, Shannon and I loaded up the boat Saturday and headed for the lake for some serious bass fishing. The wind was gusting up to 35 M.P.H. when we arrived. When we arrived we were surprised that there were so many other anglers out looking for the early spawn. We headed for a cove that we were protected from the wind a little bit. And set up fishing. We had fished for about 30 minutes and Joe and I had got caught on about everything there is to catch your lure on except a fish. Shannon had commented that he would give us a lesson on how not to get caught so easy. That's when Joe spotted Shannon's secret, he was using a swimming shad but had forgot to put a hook in it! We were laughing so hard that I kicked my Shimano Calcutta rod and reel out of the boat. I grabbed for it but it sank to fast. Joe threw out in the area that I had sank my rod and reel and he hooked it. I could not believe it! He also was the only one to catch a bass that day and I was glad he caught the rod and reel and the Bass he deserved it. After that happened we could get back to Shannon not slipping a hook in his lure. Some days you don`t have to catch a livewell full to have a great time.
