All day long me and my friend had been fishing off of the Marina dock and we had not had that much success. We were tossing rubber worms and crankbaits off of weed edges and only caught a few small bass. Although at night it was a completely different scene. We usually go and fish for Hybrid Stripers. I usually use a six inch Rapala. We go over to the police dock to fish for stripers but that night I did something a little different. I decided to take a practice cast to check my tension and drag when all of a sudden I felt some weight. I figured that it was probably just some hydrila (weeds) but to my surprise I found that my line was whizzing off to the right. I began to put some pressure on the fish and soon realized that I had something big. So I cranked him in and weighed him on a digital scale and it said 4 pounds 8 ounces. For Oregon that is a pretty good bass because they are a different strain of bass than they are in Florida because they do not grow as fast. The state record is 11 pounds 3 ounces. So I am pretty proud of my catch. Considering I am only 15 years old I expect to catch many more larger bass.
