i was fishing with my brother and dad in a river near lake erie for steelhead. it was freezing out and we were there for an hour at least and the only catch was a clam by my brother.there were at least twenty guys fishing next to each other now and no one was catching anything so were decided to go soon.i casted out my line for the last time and felt a bite! i was so surprised i forgot to set the hook and i reeled it in.my brother's line was still out so i decided to cast it again in the same spot.barley after the cast i got a huge bite. i set the hook this time and prepared for a fight. the fish jumped and i saw how a huge steelhead. i wanted to catch it so bad but i only had 6 pound test line and steelhead are one of the hardest fresh water fish to catch so i had to set the drag easier than usual. to make things worse my handle on my reel broke and i had to twist the little screw on it to reel the fish in! also some annoying fisherman came and casted over my line while i fought him.i fought for a long time and both the fish and i were exausted.i managed to get him right up next to the shore but i had no net . i tried to pull him up and the line snapped.the fish didn't move though he was to tired. my dad stepped into the freezing river in his clothes he had no waiters and threw the fish on land.it was my biggest fish ever.we took it to my uncles for him to cut it up.it weighed 8 pounds and was 26 inches long. before he cut it all his neighbors came to see the fish.one guy asked me if i got to see the huge fish. i was really proud to tell him i caught it. my uncle was also pretty surprised by the catch. he loves fishing for steelhead and aint bad at it and i had caught the first one of the year.
