The holiday season has been good to me. Yesterday , my son and I caught a 5.1 pound largemoth on a Rapala broken back lure. The outside tept was 75 and the water temp was 64. The fish was 20 feet ot from shore on an old buush pile that we put out last summer. The water haqs been down (@12 feet here at this lake) so the beast was looking for an easy meal. On top of that we caught a 3.6 pounder on a white spinner (Colorodo ) too.
We have lived on this lake for 6 years and have ALWAYS caught and released. My wife says we have been cathing the same 6 fish for the past 6 years (joke). The growth has caught up with this small lake and fishing pressure has done it in. We try to teach the younger fisherman that to release is to catch a larger one this spring, but to no evail. My fear is this is the last years of the 13 pounders, the 12 pounders and the many 8-5 pounders thaqt have run our lines out theses past years.
My birthplace was Chattanooga Tennessee my family now live in Orlando Florida. I am 34 years old and fear that my grandchilderen will not enjoy the feeling of catching a 12+ pounder. Do you remember?
