Today, I was at my grandma’s pond and I was fishing for largemouth bass, but all I could catch was those stupid bluegill. Well, my friend that I was fishing with caught one bass, but it was an off day. My friend, who had the net, was disappointed with the catch and went home. So now I’m there trying and trying, no fish, and suddenly my cousin pulls in the driveway. He goes, “have you tried the top water?” I’m like, “yes,” He goes, “have you tried the worm?” I’m like, “yes.” He says finally, “did you try a spinner?” I’m like, “kind of.” He says, “give me a pole and a spinner.” I’m like, “ok.”
He cast a couple times and BAM! nails a largemouth bass. I'm like, “now how can I do that?” He is like, “cast out as far as you can and then spin it in slowly.” I try once and nail one. I’m like, “thanks” and continue fishing. I catch a few, but then I cast a huge one and nail it. I fight with it and I get it right near shore, but I knew if I picked it up it would snap the line so I try to grab it by the lip but it’s just so strong, it swims away. So I get it back by the shore and my cousin goes, “that must weigh around 7 pounds.”
Right after that, it rips its head hard and escapes. But at least I still have my deadly lure to catch him this coming weekend, read my next story to see if I do so in conclusion. I would like to say my cousin Danny is my idol -- thank you Danny for teaching me how to fish with lures correctly!
