Here's a story I tell all my friends, most don't believe it, but it's the basis for the most explosive top water action you'll never forget.
After casting my prop/bait next to a laydown, I reached into my shirt pocket for a cigarette. Not finding them there, I searched the boat to no avail and had to settle for my emergency back-up that had been in my tackle box since the previous season. Then I searched my pockets for my lighter and that too was nowhere to be found. By the time I dug the matches out of the plastic bag in my tackle box and returned my attention back to the motionless top-water, at least a minute had passed. As I picked the rod up to retrieve that motionless lure, the blades barely turned and the water literally exploded. I landed a 6.4 largemouth, my biggest in ten years. Now, whenever I cast a top-water to a bassy spot, I put that rod down and cast a worm or spinner to another, and after I finish the second cast, I return to the top-water. You won't believe how many times a bass will hit on the initial start-up after letting it sit a long time.
Try it, You'll like it!!!
