During late May, I go fishing for the spawning bluegills and rockbass. Here's how it’s easiest. I started the day wondering if I was going to catch the next lake record fish. (doubt it).

I started with my flyrod and, to my surprise, was tearin' them up. I was catching bluegills, rockbass, and largemouths left and right.

My technique was simply casting the fly, (spiders or bass poppers), stripping line a couple of times, and letting it sit there. Watch out, fish often take the fly when at rest. I missed a lot of fish, but made up for that in the size of the fish I caught.

I caught a 10 1/2" rockbass and some decent sized bluegills and a 15" largemouth (plus tons more fish), all on this fly, small lures and patience pay off big-time in this time of the year.

This was surely the "fun way" to fish here.
