The biggest bass I ever caught was in Tamarac, Florida -- in a pond of a large retirement complex. It was about 7 years ago and I remember it very clearly. I was fishing a rubber worm and had not caught much that day. Just when I was about to quit for the day, I saw something in the water right by the shore. Well, I dropped the rubber worm right there, and immediately it was inhaled. I set the hook hard and just kept lifting my rod and within seconds, the largest Bass i’ve ever seen was flipping and flopping on the ground next to me. I didn't measure or weight the fish but I’m sure it exceeded 6 pounds as I’ve caught a few fish in the 4-5 pound range. I was pretty excited about it.
Anyway, just wanted to share that one with you. Just shows you don't always have to play the fish right to land it. Just lifted it immediately out of the water!
