I'm 17 years old and have been fishing since I was 5. I love to fish, no matter what the conditions are, I will be out on the lake. I am in a fishing program through my school called Teen Angler. This program is great. We have class once a week after school. It teaches people all types of things about fishing. It is great! In the past 2 years that I have been in the program, I have learned so much.
Well one day I was bored and decided I wanted to spend some time at the lake. I decided to go down to a lake called Dupont. I baited my hook and started fishing. I heard this little voice behind me. I turned around and this little boy asked me what I was doing. I explained it to him a simple as I could. He seemed very interested. He told me he wished he knew how to fish. I asked him if he had ever fished, and of course his reply was no. So I handed him my spinning rod and told him to cast it. He did pretty well for not having cast a pole before. Then from there, I told him just twitch the poll a few times so the worm would go up and down. And the next thing that happened, I will never forget. The poll starts to bend and I'm watching this little kid fight a fish. When he gets it to shore, we put it on the scale, 4 lbs, 5 ounces. That's not bad for a first fish. But the thing of it is, I felt so good teaching someone else how to fish. The feeling is so unbelievable! Best of luck to everyone.
